About Southern Utah Mutual Aid Coalition

About Us

Southern Utah Mutual Aid Coalition (SUMAC) was founded with a simple but powerful goal: to improve the material conditions of everyday working people in the Southern Utah area. We believe that no one should face hardship alone, and that lasting change starts at the grassroots level. In a time where systemic inequality continues to harm our most vulnerable neighbors, SUMAC exists to provide direct support, build local power, and foster the connections that make real democracy possible.

What We Do

We carry out our mission through:

  • Mutual Aid - Providing and organizing resources like food, clothing, and transportation, rooted in solidarity, not charity.
  • Community Service - Hosting clean-ups, support drives, volunteer events, and more to strengthen our community and respond to local needs.

Why It Matters

We know that mutual aid is not a side effort; it is fundamental to building the kind of just, equitable world we all deserve. At SUMAC, we believe that everyone has something to contribute, and that together, we can lay the groundwork for transformative, people-powered change.
